Wire rope slings can be spliced either manually or by machine, capable of processing and manufacturing wire ropes with diameters up to Φ190mm. The product length can be controlled with an error accurate to the millimeter, meeting specialized lifting needs across various fields. Additionally, custom non-standard designs for wire rope slings are undertaken, allowing for special design and production based on user requirements. The breaking load of a spliced wire rope sling is five times its working load. Spliced wire ropes are a safe and practical specialized tool for lifting, moving, and transporting heavy objects. They are characterized by high temperature resistance, wear resistance, ease of use,and high load-bearing capacity, making them applicable in industries such as machinery, metallurgy, shipbuilding, petroleum, and ports.
The method for manually splicing a wire rope sling involves untwisting all six strands to a length of about 20 centimeters or more. One end is then bent into an egg-shaped loop, and the separated wire rope ends are spliced in using either a "one-strand-under-one" or "one-strand-under-two" technique. The "one-strand-under-one" method results in a round splice, while the "one-strand-under-two" method produces a square splice. The process is repeated sequentially three times to complete the splice.
The standard specifies the manual splicing of a six-strand wire rope with an alternately twisted fiber core or wire rope core to create a wire rope connection device with a thimble (commonly known as a hook). The splice is formed through five interweavings, which may consist of three full-strand interweavings and two reduced-strand interweavings. All splices should be oriented opposite to the lay direction of the wire rope. Except for the first set of interweavings, the tails of all strands in subsequent sets should also be opposite to the lay direction of the wire rope. The interweaving should be done in a cross pattern, alternating over and under.
If the wire rope has a fiber core, the core should be fully passed through with the first tail end of the first set of interweavings, after which the exposed core should be cut off. If the strands have fiber cores, the strand cores should remain within their original strands.
If the wire rope has an independent wire rope core, the core should be divided into three parts: two strands, two strands, and two strands plus the core. These three parts should be spliced using three alternating tail ends, passing only through the three complete splice points. If the wire rope has an independent wire strand core, this core should be folded inward during the first set of interweavings and fully inserted into the center of the splice after five complete interweavings.
All interweavings should be tightly pulled to align with the centerline of the wire rope. To ensure the spliced section is smooth and rounded, appropriate tools should be used for shaping to position them correctly.
